Profile

Elizabeth Kennedy joined the Centre for Commercial Law Studies in March 2015 as a Research Assistant to the Cloud Legal Project. She is currently conducting research on a full time basis on various legal aspects of cloud computing through the Microsoft funded Cloud Legal Project.

Previously, she worked for a well-known commercial law firm in the UK advising on a range of matters including Intellectual Property law and European Competition law. She also has experience of judicial proceedings including litigations before the English and Scottish Courts, and the Competition Appeals Tribunal in London.  Before coming to QMUL, Elizabeth worked at the European Newspaper Publishers Association in Brussels gaining exposure to EU legal policy making. She has experience of negotiating draft European legislation with representatives of various European Institutions including the Commission and Council. Elizabeth has also completed a stage at the Court of Justice of the European Union in the chamber of Advocate General Sharpston.

Elizabeth has a Masters by Research (with Distinction) from the University of Edinburgh. The topic of her thesis was cross-border violations of personality rights, including privacy and defamation. She has spoken at the Young International Lawyer Forum in Sicily on this topic. Elizabeth also has a keen interest in International Private Law and has previously undertaken research for the Hague Conference on Private International Law. She is a contributing editor for the Scottish Parliamentary Review.

Elizabeth studied law at the University of Glasgow, and McGill University in Montreal.
