Dr Gabriel Gari to present a paper at the second meeting of the E15 expert group on services

Published:

Dr Gabriel Gari, Senior Lecturer in International Economic Law, is to speak at the second meeting of the E15 expert group on services. Dr Gari’s presentation is titled ‘GATS and other international disciplines and arrangements related to services: overlaps and the quest for policy coherence’.

The E15 Initiative (E15), jointly implemented by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), engages nine world-class institutions and over 200 experts from academia, practitioners, business, and former policy makers, in defining the ideas, strategies and scenarios for how the global trade system can meet the challenges and demands of the world economy and sustainable development today and in 2025.

The expert group on 'Services' is responsible for formulating solutions and proposals on how international cooperation through the WTO and other mechanisms for integration will promote the contribution of services to growth and development. The work will be carried out in consultation with the broader trade policy community in Geneva as well as in the different regions. The findings of the group will also serve to inform a scenario-building exercise, which will constitute a key delivery in time for the 20th anniversary of the WTO at the end of 2015. The meeting is to be held on 24-25 November 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland.
