The Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) maintains a range of contacts with international institutions and the legal profession.

Study Abroad Programmes

We welcome independent applications from students from overseas universities for the General Semester in London programme. In addition we have programmes designed specifically for students from these institutions and regions:

European Intellectual Property Institutes Network

The European Intellectual Property Institutes Network (EIPIN) was founded in 1999 to facilitate and increase cooperation among IP institutions and students in Europe. The members are: the Centre D'Etudes Internationales de la Propriete Industrielle (CEIPI) at the Robert Schuman University of Strasbourg; Magister Lucentinus at the University of Alicante; the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (a partnership between the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, the University of Augsburg, the Technische Universit√§t M√ľnchen, and the George Washington University Law School) and Intellectual Property researchers at CCLS.

Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys

The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) is the professional body for trade mark attorneys in the UK. CCLS runs a two-year course to prepare members of the profession for the Joint Examination Board Advanced Trade Mark Papers T3, T4 and T6. The course is open to students of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents who have sat or are exempt from the Foundation Papers Basic English Law, T1 and T2.

MWE is an international law firm with more than 1,000 lawyers and offices in Boston, Brussels, Chicago, Dusseldorf, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Milan, Munich, New York, Orange County, Rome, San Diego, Silicon Valley and Washington, DC. Since 2003, the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute at CCLS has helped produce the company's European Intellectual Property Bulletin, with researchers providing content for 10 issues per year.

Overseas Collaboration

  • Arbitration Certificate Course in Cairo offered by the School of International Arbitration at CCLS and the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration.
  • Hamline Summer School - Certificate Programme in Global Arbitration Law and Practice: National and Transborder Perspectives offered by the School of International Arbitration at CCLS and the Hamline University Dispute Resolution Institute, USA.
